Effect of heart rate and intracoronary isoproterenol, levarterenol, and epinephrine on coronary flow and resistance.

چکیده
TVFUMEROUS studies have been published •*• ^ on the effect of heart rate and various drugs on coronary flow. It has not been possible to estimate the relative importance of changes in intravaseular and extravascular resistance in determining the observed alterations in coronary flow. Recently, Sabiston and Gregg suggested that in a heart in which coronary arteries were perfused at constant pressure the immediate change in flow induced by vagal asystole was due to the removal of the extravascular resistance of the contracting myocardium. They found that coronary flow consistently rose and concluded that extravascular resistance acted to impede coronary flow. In the present experiments, a similar approach was used to determine the effect of changes in heart rate and of intracoronary epinephrine, norepinephrine, and isoproterenol on extravascular and intravaseular resistance.

The autoregulation of norepinephrine (NE) release mediated by presynaptic alpha and beta adrenoceptors on sympathetic nerve terminals in the heart of pentobarbital-anesthetized dog was studied. NE overflow elicited by left cardiac sympathetic nerve stimulation was determined from the coronary sinus blood, by using high-performance liquid chromatography with electrochemical detection. Intracoron...

The 3 adrenergic substances, epinephrine, levarterenol and isopropylarterenol, were injected into a coronary artery of anestlietized dogs while recording the coronary artery flow (electromagnetic meter) and pi'cssurc. The effects of these substances on the peripheral coronary pressure (PCP) were recorded by occluding the flow proximal to the pressure gage. All 3 substances caused a qualitativel...
متن کاملThe Role of Nitric Oxide and Prostaglandins in the Effect of Adenosine on Contractility, Heart Rate and Coronary Blood Flow in Guinea Pig Isolated Heart
It is a well-established fact that adenosine and its receptor subtypes (A 1 and A ) are involved in changes of contractility, heart rate and coronary blood flow (CBF) under different circumstances. This study was conducted to evaluate the role of nitric oxide and prostaglandins in development of these changes. For this purpose, Nitro-L-Arginine methyl ester (L-NAME), and indomethacin as inhibit...

• Shortly after levarterenol (norepinephrine) came into general clinical use, its application in the management of acute myocardial infarction associated with cardiac shock was tested, and many favorable reports appeared."" Such use was originally based on the supposition that the drug raises blood pressure entirely by increasing the peripheral vascular resistance, and it was expected to be sup...
